Moore Returns to racing in
Hickory Motor Speedway’s “Fall Brawl”
Hickory,
NC (October 18, 2005) – Dana Moore returned to racing last
Sunday for her first-ever Late Model Stock Car race at the historic Hickory
Motor Speedway, where she piloted the No. 51 Chevy Monte Carlo for Lightning
S Motorsports.
Moore
qualified 28th and finished 14th in one of the most competitive late model
races in the country. Hickory’s “Fall Brawl” has become
one of the largest late model events of the year drawing several top teams
and drivers.
After
nearly a two year break from racing due to an injury that occurred during
a road race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Dana Moore has returned to the track.
She is now fully healed and focused on a stock car career.
“It’s
great to be back in the race car,” said Moore. “I feel good about
my finish since it was my first late model race. I learned a lot tonight and
accomplished my goal of finishing the race.”
The
250 lap race was a fierce challenge for Moore’s first stock car race.
She had limited time in the car and on the track. Much of her competition
for the race had backing from big NASCAR teams such as Evernham and Childress.
“We
tested up here a little bit, but I’ve never run a short track race in
full bodied stock cars until tonight,” said Moore, who’s an accomplished
road racer. “It’s a completely different style of racing.”
Moore
plans to continue her pursuit of a stock car racing career in various late
model events around the south this year. She hopes to run a full season next
year in either the ARCA/RE MAX series or a similar series.
“I laid down a solid foundation tonight and look forward to continuing to move further in stock car racing,” Moore added.
